How it plays

Link letters. Fill your cup.

Drag across neighboring tiles to spell words of three letters or more. Longer words, rare words and the bright 2x and 3x tiles score more, and every word pours a little more coffee into your glass.

Any direction, every turn. From the letter you're on, the next one can be any of its eight neighbors. Go up, down, left, right or diagonally. Change direction as often as you like, and use each tile only once per word.

  • Stars and cups earn beans that unlock new places
  • Easy, Medium and Hard, with 3, 5 or 10 minute rounds

    Your companion sits with you, reacts to your words and loves a pet. Unlock a new friend with every new place, and bring any of them along to any cafe. Tap one to say hello.

    Three ways to play

    Play, Chill or just Vibe

    Play

    A timed round of 3, 5 or 10 minutes. Your score fills a glass of coffee and earns a star at each mark. Fill the cup and a fresh one starts, so a great round earns more than three. Words in quick succession build a combo.

    Chill

    No timer, no pressure. Each time the glass fills it counts as a cup, and you can see how many cups you filled today. Pick up right where you left off.

    Vibe

    No game at all. Just the place, its sounds and music, with or without your companion. Leave it running on your Apple TV or an iPad on your desk as a living background.

    Coming next

    Coming to Steam

    Lettercup is coming to PC, Mac and Linux on Steam, with the same cafes, companions and cozy pace. It's being built for Steam Deck from the start, with full controller play, text sized for the handheld screen, and Vibe mode for the couch.

    We're aiming for Valve's Steam Deck Verified rating, which Valve awards after testing the game.

    Play with a controller

    Pick up an Xbox, PlayStation or Switch controller and Lettercup shows that controller's buttons right on screen. One picks letters, others clear, submit, swap and scramble, and a bumper pets your companion for a hint. It's how the game plays on Apple TV today, and how it will play on Steam Deck.
